Mobile Crisis Team Academy

Upcoming Sessions: February, April, and June 2025 

The Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) Academy offers virtual training and technical support for existing and emerging mobile crisis team providers in New Mexico, including agencies interested in becoming Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC). This training will take place over two days and will be offered quarterly. The MCT Academy addresses various topics, including:​​

  • the role mobile crisis teams within the crisis continuum

  • risk and intervention assessment

  • trauma-informed care

  • motivational interviewing

  • legal considerations for mobile crisis teams

  • inclusion of peer support specialists

  • engagement with special populations

  • verbal de-escalation techniques

  • safety planning

  • care coordination

  • situational awareness, and understanding law

       enforcement culture.

CE credits are awarded by The University of New Mexico Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Division of Community Behavioral Health (CBH), which has been approved by the NM Counseling & Therapy Board (NMCTB) for licensed counselors and therapists and New Mexico Credentialing Board for Behavioral Health Professionals (NMCBBHP) for certified Prevention Professionals, Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Clinical Supervisors, Peer Support Workers, Family Peer Support Workers, Youth Peer Support Specialists and Wrap Facilitators in the State of New Mexico.13.25 NMCTB continuing education credits, 13.25 NMCBBHP continuing education credit hours, or 13.25 attendance hours will be provided for attending this presentation. Details on how to claim the credit will be provided during the training.
